Strategic Planning

It has been said, “If you fail to plan you are planning to fail.” That statement definitely applies to every business.

Strategic Planning is the process of creating an actionable plan that an organization uses as a road map to achieve its mission. This essential plan includes every department and will touch every area and line of business throughout the organization regardless of its size.

A CORE Plan is customized to first define where an individual or organization is, determines where they want to be, and, most importantly, maps out an effective, efficient, and achievable plan to reach their goal of personal or organizational excellence.

The strategic planning process consists of five steps:

  1. Assessment – We will conduct a detailed 360 degree assessment of your organization, viewing it from every angle using both internal and external audits. After examining your industry, direct competition, mission statement, current resources (assets, human capital, and financials), organizational structure, marketing plans, production process, management team, and interviewing key employees, we will create a detailed report of your current strengths, opportunities, and standings.
  2. Desired State -Knowing where you are is critical, knowing where you want to go (determining the “X” on the treasure map) is essential. Determining an organization’s desired state includes: looking at the mission statement, desired market share, target audience, ideal product mix, reasonable financial mix (debt to income, debt vs. cash, etc.…), plus internal and external culture and reputation. This isn’t a wish list, it’s a reasonable goal set by the people who have the power and talents to achieve them.
  3. Action Plan – Defining the most effective and efficient way to fill in the gap between where an organization is and where it wants to be is the objective of the CORE Plan. This plan will outline specific activities, goals, projects, and timelines. It will also include who is responsible for each activity, which activities are priorities, and, in some cases, an updated Mission Statement to remind everyone what the organization is working towards.  
  4. Implementation –A plan isn’t worth the paper it’s written on if it is not implemented. However, all changes must be implemented in a smart and thoughtful way. From determining change leaders to utilizing updated performance objectives and clearly defined job descriptions, CORE Consulting will help you introduce the plan to your organization in a way that is well received and embraced.
  5. Follow-up - CORE Consulting will work with your organization to ensure you are heading in the right direction. Our goal is to help you reach your goals successfully. Through frequent meetings, on-going communications, and timely check-ins we will revise as needed and congratulate along the way.
